The Client's Needs
South West Water required a Zero Nuisance wastewater treatment works to reduce the impact on Croyde's tourist industry. The works was constructed on Natural Tourist land and aesthetically appears as farm buildings having been constructed in natural rubble stone to blend into the landscape.
VWS Solution
The VWS design for Croyde adhered to stringent planning requirements including odour control and noise suppression, and delivered an attractive outward appearance of the site for nearby tourists.
VWS provided modifications to the existing inlet and outfall pumping station, a new inlet screening plant, grit / grease removal, aeration lanes, final clarification, de-aeration and UV treatment. The design included surplus activated sludge thickening for on-site storage and subsequent removal by the client.
